Will Hypnotherapy Help Me?
Yes
If you want hypnotherapy to help you, then it will. A hypnotherapist can never make you do anything you don’t want to do. My job is to help you to create the change that you already know that you want.
No
If you come to hypnotherapy believing that it can’t help you, then it’s unlikely that it will. Having said that, I have helped some clients who have been very sceptical about how hypnotherapy can help at the beginning. Usually they came to me as a last resort. They have been amazed by how powerful the transformation has been!
How Safe is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is very safe. A hypnotherapist can never make you do anything that you don’t want to do. Hypnosis is a completely natural state that all humans experience several times a day.
You’ll never be asked to reveal any information that you don’t want to, and you will always be in control.
You should talk to your GP before having hypnotherapy if you have any of the following diagnoses:
- psychotic episodes
- schizophrenia
- bipolar disorder
- certain types of personality disorders
- epilepsy
- breathing problems.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
This can vary widely between individuals. Some clients need just three or four sessions of hypnotherapy, others may need eight or more. The first session will give you a lot of information, and clients often notice change within a very few sessions.
If you know that you have a long or complex history of trauma, abuse or anxiety, you should expect to work with me over a number of sessions. Issues that have only been a problem for a few weeks or months may respond more quickly to hypnotherapy.
It’s usual to have the first three appointments at weekly intervals and from there to decide how often you want to come. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a process, rather than a one stop, quick fix. We aim to create lasting change. My clients remark on the way that sessions develop in a way that surprised them.
Some clients may feel able to leave two or three weeks between appointments, and others prefer to stick to weekly appointments until they know that treatment is complete.
I can guide you, and you will know what’s best when the time comes.
Does Online Hypnotherapy Work?
Yes, and there is lots of evidence to suggest that for some people it is even more effective than face to face. Clients enjoy the freedom of being able to stay in the comfort of their own home, and not having to travel to the clinic. I enjoy delivering online therapy, and am happy to see you that way or in person. We can mix and match too, so you never have to miss a session if you are away or under the weather.
Please ask to speak to me or use the contact form if online therapy is not possible for you for any reason, and I will do my best to help.
I’ve Always Been an Anxious Person - Can You Still Help Me?
Yes. We want to work with the future you. If you would like to be calmer, more confident, then that is what we will aim for.
Just because something is the way it is today, doesn’t mean it can’t be different tomorrow!
When you want to change, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help.
What Does Solution Focused Mean?
In the Solution Focused approach, we concentrate on how you want things to be, rather than how they are or how you don’t want them to be. This approach uses language and questions to help you create a future in which your best hopes are realised. In this way we don’t need to talk about the past or your problem if you don’t want to.
It is not my role to give advice in the way that a counsellor would, because I believe that you have the answers you need. It’s my job as a solution focused practitioner to ask the right questions so that you find your way to your own solutions. This is a more powerful and lasting way to create change.
Can I Talk to You Before I Make an Appointment?
Yes, of course. You can book a “Tell me More” call here. I can answer your questions and you will know if this is the right therapy, and I am the right therapist, for you.
